Forum Quad of the Month Reviews Tech Store Links Videos Contact

September 2006

After watching and helping J build my Cherry Bomb Z400, I wanted to get involved again, so I decided to build my own Z400. I still had a lot to learn though. I to a Motorcyle/ATV Mechanics course. It helped, but there’s nothing like hands on and reading on the forums how people put stuff together or fixed something that was wrong. They don’t teach you all the little tricks in the books. I never could have gotten this thing together without J. I’d have been sitting in front of the computer bugging everyone on the forums constantly for little stuff, lol. The build took about 8 months from the time I started sending out sponsorship requests. I’ve gotten comments about how everything was handed to me, and trust me, it wasn’t. I was given some free stuff and some discounted items, but I still have a lot of money and work involved on this Z. I actually have a list and I’m afraid to total up what I’ve spent, lol.
It was a little difficult to get sponsors when they hear that I don’t race. Every single person I talked to was very nice though. The sponsors I picked up were:

AC Racing
Alba Action Sports
IMS
Maier
Pro Sport ATV
Powermadd
RIS Designs
Sidewinder
Trail Tech

I’d also like to thank the Z400 Members that helped me out and sold me parts or actually a couple sent me some parts for free (NJC & 05GreenMachine).

I was really inspired by seeing a lot of different Z400’s on the site. I tried to put different things on this Z than I’ve seen before. I know it’s a girly quad, but hey, if guys show it to their girlfriends/wives, maybe they’ll want to ride too! I’ve gotten a lot of PM’s about people wanting to try wrenching on their quads and I just wanted to say, “don’t be so afraid to, if I can do it, so can you!” We have a lot of great resources on Z400Central.

Thanks everyone for all your compliments and votes!
